PLANICA – CRADLE OF SKI FLYING

For decades, the valley below Ponce has been inviting ski flying heroes, who are crossing record distances and reaching new milestones in the winter jumping sport over and over again.

Bold creators and architects of breath-taking Planica ski jumping hills, fearless ski jumpers from all over the world, and loyal visitors are realizing age-old desires and dreams of a man to fly.

In Planica, it was for the first time in history that a man flew over 100 and 200 metres. In total, this valley witnessed more than 40 world records on two jumping hills, which is more than in any other place in the world.

Planica has been setting a new dimension of flying experience because Zipline Planica gives us the opportunity to learn what it is like to fly on the Planica giant hill.

PROJECT

The Zipline Planica project has been a great technical challenge for the company Koren Sports, because it is the steepest zipline descent in the world, and the large inclination of the wire rope (average inclination 38%) requires 100% functioning of safety systems, which are fully independent.

For the purposes of the project, we developed a special braking trolley with an integrated induction brake with as much as 64 different settings, a secondary braking system DBS, and collision avoidance system.

TECHNICAL DATA:

Lenght: 566m

Difference in altitude: 202m

Size of wire rope: 16mm

The entire project was successfully completed within 6 months, which included project engineering, testing and development of equipment, installation and staff training.
